- 3Coffee harvest season (May-Sep) is the best time to visit farms and see the full production process.
- 4The roads beyond Gleno are genuinely bad. Don't attempt them without 4WD, and avoid wet season entirely for the Atsabe/Letefoho section.
- 5Bandeira Waterfall is worth the effort but plan at least half a day: the walk is steep and the access road is rough.
- 6Gomes Community Farm in Railaco organizes hill walks with Mount Ramelau views: a good alternative if you don't want to venture into the deep interior.
Seguransa & Saúde
The main risk in Ermera is the road conditions beyond Gleno. Potholes, steep drops, no barriers, and occasional landslides make the interior roads genuinely dangerous. Don't drive after dark. Bring a first aid kit: medical facilities are limited to basic clinics.
