Sara Guesthouse (Sara House & Resto) is a family-run guesthouse and restaurant in the centre of Maubisse, a cool mountain market town in the Ainaro highlands about 70 km south of Dili, at around 1,400 m. It sits near the market roundabout, and its dining room and roof terrace look out over the town and the mountains.

There are 20 guest rooms in two wings. The old wing has standard rooms and rooms with a small kitchen; the new wing has standard rooms and five VIP rooms. Every room has a private bathroom with hot water, which is rare in Maubisse. There are also three rooms for drivers and tour guides.

The Sara Restaurant serves local meals at local prices (mie goreng around USD 1.50, lunch or dinner around USD 5). The guesthouse has Starlink Wi-Fi, solar power with a back-up generator, and an event hall for hire.

Maubisse is known for its mountain coffee, its ridge-top viewpoints and the colourful Sunday market, and it is the usual base for climbing Mount Ramelau (Tatamailau), Timor-Leste's highest peak.

Please don’t look at the outside and assume that it is anything other than Amazing on the inside. The rooms are so clean and tidy. The owner is such a lovely woman who will cater to all of your needs. This is such a great place especially for a group booking because there’s so many opportunities for communal spaces. This is the only place I would stay if I was passing through again.

I had a wonderful stay at Sara in Maubisse. The service was excellent—friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, especially the fried rice and Beefi. The room was clean and comfortable, with a breathtaking view from the window. The peaceful and cool atmosphere made the stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing place with beautiful scenery in Maubisse!

Guest house was clean and comfortable! Downtown Maubiesse, so car, people, and dog noise are going to be there. Restaurant was tasty and staff friendly! Gorgeous views!

Pretty much the only place to stay in Maubisse, but thankfully it is one of the better ones outside of Dili. It has a balcony with good views over the Ainaro landscape, and the rooms are clean and well equipped by Timor-Leste standards. A twin room with a decent breakfast was $30, and meals $6 each. Maubisse makes a great break from the Dili heat, and Sara Guest House was a relaxing spot to spend the weekend

Favorite resto if you transit in Maubisse, the weather is cold, the food is quite delicious. Usually crowded at lunch time, most people eat here when they transit to Suai or other place. There's a coffee shop on the roof top of the resto, with a good ambience.
