Sara Guesthouse is a small, family-run lodge in the highland town of Maubisse — a cool, mountain-ringed market town in the Ainaro district roughly 70 km south of Dili and at about 1,400 m elevation. The guesthouse sits in the centre of town near the market roundabout, with the Sara Restaurant downstairs serving local meals at local prices (mie goreng around US$1.50, lunch or dinner around US$5 per person). Eight rooms in total — two with single beds and six with doubles — are split across simple, clean modern interiors with hot water (a real luxury in Maubisse, where most accommodation relies on cold-water mandi bathing). Two thick blankets per room are standard issue for the cold highland nights. Maubisse itself is famous for its mountain coffee, dramatic ridge-top viewpoints, the colourful Sunday market, and as a base for climbing nearby Mount Ramelau (Tatamailau) — Timor-Leste's highest peak.

Please don’t look at the outside and assume that it is anything other than Amazing on the inside. The rooms are so clean and tidy. The owner is such a lovely woman who will cater to all of your needs. This is such a great place especially for a group booking because there’s so many opportunities for communal spaces. This is the only place I would stay if I was passing through again.

I had a wonderful stay at Sara in Maubisse. The service was excellent—friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, especially the fried rice and Beefi. The room was clean and comfortable, with a breathtaking view from the window. The peaceful and cool atmosphere made the stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing place with beautiful scenery in Maubisse!

Guest house was clean and comfortable! Downtown Maubiesse, so car, people, and dog noise are going to be there. Restaurant was tasty and staff friendly! Gorgeous views!

Pretty much the only place to stay in Maubisse, but thankfully it is one of the better ones outside of Dili. It has a balcony with good views over the Ainaro landscape, and the rooms are clean and well equipped by Timor-Leste standards. A twin room with a decent breakfast was $30, and meals $6 each. Maubisse makes a great break from the Dili heat, and Sara Guest House was a relaxing spot to spend the weekend

Favorite resto if you transit in Maubisse, the weather is cold, the food is quite delicious. Usually crowded at lunch time, most people eat here when they transit to Suai or other place. There's a coffee shop on the roof top of the resto, with a good ambience.
