Overview

Beni-Marine Eco Resort is a small eco resort by the beach at Tua Koin, in Vila on Atauro Island. The rooms are in bamboo and thatch bungalows, each with air conditioning, and there is free Wi-Fi.

Rooms are priced by the number of guests. a single room for one person is USD 25 a night, a double room for two is USD 35, and a double room with an extra mattress for three is USD 45. Meals are cooked on request and must be booked in advance: breakfast USD 5, lunch and dinner USD 7.50 per person.

Activities can be arranged on site. kayaking and paddleboarding with an instructor to the Beloi and Vila marine protected area (USD 25 per person), banana boat rides (USD 5 per person, at least 4 people), donut rides (USD 10 per person, at least 3 people) and snorkel set rental with a life jacket (USD 10 an hour).

Getting there. take the public ferry from Dili to Beloi, where the resort picks you up by tuk-tuk. A private boat can be arranged on request.

Getting to Atauro

Atauro is 25km north of Dili, accessible by ferry or light aircraft.

    Fares $4 to $5 one way. Tickets are sold for cash at the port on the day, so arrive early.

  • MAF light aircraft

    Monday 07:30, Wednesday 10:00 and Friday 16:30 · $80 one-way

    Flights back from Atauro leave Monday 08:10, Wednesday 10:40 and Friday 17:10.

    About 20 minutes from Dili. Book directly with MAF Timor-Leste, and reserve early because seats are limited.

  • Private boat

    $70-$75 per person one way

    Run by the lodges (Compass, Atauro Dive Resort, Beloi Beach Hotel). A private charter starts at about $200 an hour. Arrange it when you book.

No ferry sails on Monday, in either direction.

The boat back from Atauro reaches Dili in the early evening, too late for a same-day flight to Darwin. Plan your last night in Dili.
