   Dili to Baucau

   Hit the road east along one of Asia's most beautiful coastal drives. The road hugs the shore of the Wetar Strait, past turquoise bays, fishing villages, salt pans and baobab-dotted hills, with Atauro on the horizon. Stop for fresh coconut and photos at viewpoints along the way, then climb onto Baucau's breezy plateau in time for a dip in its famous spring-fed pool.

   Day 3 · Thu, 26 Nov 2026

   Baucau to Com

   Journey into the wild far east. Leave Baucau's plateau and follow the coast through traditional villages, past Lautém's striking Fataluku sacred houses, to the quiet fishing bay of Com, ringed by coconut palms. Watch the sun set over the water on the edge of Timor-Leste's first national park.

   Whale watching off Com

   Welcome to the edge of the map. In whale season, the deep waters off Com become a highway for pygmy blue whales, sperm whales and dolphins. Head out at dawn in a small wooden boat with local fishermen who have read these seas all their lives, scanning the horizon for a spout. Encounters can be breathtakingly close. Back on shore, a lazy afternoon on the long crescent beach under coconut palms.

   Day 5 · Sat, 28 Nov 2026

   Jaco Island and Tutuala

   Head for the very tip of Timor. The road climbs through the forests of Nino Konis Santana National Park, past Fataluku villages and limestone cliffs, before dropping to the dazzling white sand of Valu Beach, with sacred Jaco Island shimmering just across the channel. Settle into Tutuala for the night, high above one of the most beautiful coastlines in Asia.

   Com back to Dili

   A full day on the road back west, and a beautiful one. Retrace the north coast past fishing villages, sacred houses and endless sea views, with a lunch stop in Baucau on its breezy plateau. Watch the turquoise Wetar Strait slide by the window as the afternoon light softens, arriving in Dili in time for a well-earned dinner and a final look at the city lights.

   Departure day

   Enjoy a final, unhurried breakfast with views of the bay. Depending on your flight, there may be time for one last waterfront stroll or a stop for Timorese coffee beans to take home. Your guide collects you for the short drive to the airport, and you leave with new friends, full memory cards and the warmest obrigadu barak (thank you very much) from all of us. Until next time!
