Uma Duut

Uma Du'ut Cottage is a small property of six timber cottages set in rice paddies on the outskirts of Maliana, the capital of Bobonaro district near the Indonesian border. The cottages were designed by their Timorese owner, Neko, who also runs an agricultural farm nearby, and the property is widely cited by travellers as the best place to stay in Maliana. Each cottage is a cute, clean timber dwelling with indoor and outdoor sitting areas, air-conditioning, running water, electricity, comfortable beds, and rock-paved en-suite bathrooms. A two-storey cafe/bar at the front of the property serves quality food and drinks, and the gardens, multiple sitting areas, and loaner pushbikes give guests a homely base from which to explore the surrounding paddy-field countryside. Guests consistently praise the "stunning scenery, beautiful accommodation and amazing food" and the "breathtaking views of the Maliana countryside."
